Even before the founding of The Colbert Nation, Alberta has long been known as the Conservative hotbed of Canada, so much so that the province has discussed separating from Canada, and either becoming an independent nation, creating a new nation with Saskatchewan and British Columbia, or even becoming the 51st United State.

But we here at the Citizens For Colberta Coalition know better: Alberta cannot sustain its own independence with hostile borders, a unified nation of Western Canada cannot stand with hippies defending the Pacific coast, and as for the 51st state...we're still holding out for the Kingdom of Beaver Island!

So the CCC recommends making Alberta a sovereign U.S. territory, ruled over by Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, D.F.A. But besides being home to the bloody caesar, Nickelback, and billions in untapped oil sands (shotgun!), what more does the Average Joe know about Alberta?
